Directed by James Redford, the film chronicles the beginnings of a national movement to prevent childhood trauma, treat toxic stress, and greatly improve the health of future generations. Now understood to be one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression, extremely stressful experiences in childhood can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behavior. However, as experts profiled in the film are proving, what’s predictable is preventable, and they’re using cutting edge science to break the cycles of adversity and disease.

This event, held in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month and Week of the Young Child, is designed for parents, child care providers, educators, health professionals, organizational leaders, and mentors to better understand the impact of stress caused by Adverse Childhood Experiences and how you can take an active role in building resiliency at home, in the workplace and in the larger community.
